Psychosexual therapy

What is it and how might it help?

Psychosexual therapy offers a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to explore and work through concerns related to sex, intimacy, and relationships.

It can support individuals, couples, and people in polyamorous or other consensually non-monogamous relationships who may be experiencing a range of challenges, such as:

  • Do you feel disconnected from your sexual desire — or notice it’s missing altogether?
If you're experiencing low or no interest in sex, you're not alone. Desire can be affected by many factors — emotional, relational, physical, or psychological. Psychosexual therapy offers a supportive space to explore what's going on and gently reconnect with your sexual self, at your own pace.

  • Do you and your partner(s) want sex at different rates, times, or in different ways?
Differences in sexual desire — also known as desire discrepancy — are common in all kinds of relationships and can lead to frustration, rejection, or distance. Psychosexual therapy offers a supportive space to understand each person's needs, improve communication, and find more balance and connection in your intimate life.

  • Are you finding it difficult to become aroused, reach orgasm, or maintain an erection?
These experiences are more common than many people realise and can affect anyone, regardless of gender or relationship style. Whether the difficulties are occasional or ongoing, psychosexual therapy provides a safe and non-judgmental space to explore the underlying causes and support your sexual well-being.

  • Is penetration painful or uncomfortable for you — physically or emotionally?
Pain during or after penetration can have a wide range of causes, and it can impact both physical comfort and emotional intimacy. Psychosexual therapy offers a supportive, respectful space to explore what might be contributing to the pain and work toward a more comfortable and connected sexual experience.

  • Do you find it hard to initiate sex — or worry about getting it wrong?

Struggling to initiate intimacy is a common concern that can be shaped by confidence, past experiences, relationship dynamics, or fear of rejection. Psychosexual therapy can help you explore what’s getting in the way, build confidence, and develop a more comfortable and authentic approach to sexual connection.

  • Do you feel anxious or worried around sex or intimacy?
Sexual anxiety can show up as fear, performance pressure, or negative thoughts that make it hard to relax and enjoy intimacy. You’re not alone — many people experience this at some point. Psychosexual therapy provides a safe, non-judgmental space to explore these feelings, reduce anxiety, and build a more positive and confident sexual experience.

  • Are past experiences affecting your current intimate relationships?
Our histories—whether positive or painful—can shape how we connect with ourselves and others today. Trauma, past relationships, or old patterns may influence your comfort with intimacy and sexuality. Psychosexual therapy offers a compassionate space to explore these influences, heal from the past, and create healthier, more fulfilling connections in the present.

  • Are you thinking about or interested in exploring your sexuality or new ways of expressing it?
Sexuality is a unique and evolving part of who we are. Whether you’re discovering new desires, navigating different relationship styles like non-monogamy, or simply seeking to express yourself more authentically, psychosexual therapy provides a safe, open space to explore without judgment. Together, we can support your journey toward greater self-understanding, confidence, and fulfilment in your sexual life.

  • Are you navigating sex and intimacy as a neurodiverse person—or as the partner of someone who is?
Neurodiversity can shape how sexual experiences are felt, communicated, and shared. Whether it’s sensory sensitivities, differences in social or emotional connection, or unique ways of expressing intimacy, psychosexual therapy provides a supportive space to understand these needs, improve communication, and build fulfilling sexual and intimate relationships that honour everyone involved.

Relationship therapy

What is it and how might it help?

Relationship therapy is a collaborative process aimed at helping individuals, couples, and those in multi-partnered relationships to improve connections, resolve conflicts, and deepen understanding within relationships. I work with clients to explore patterns of communication, emotional needs, and underlying dynamics that influence how they relate to one another.

Whether you’re experiencing any of the following challenges (see below) or any other difficulties in your relationships, relationship therapy offers a safe and supportive environment to express your feelings openly.

Some common reasons people might seek relationship therapy:

  • Are you and your partner(s) struggling with communication or finding yourselves in frequent misunderstandings?
Difficulty expressing feelings or being heard can create distance and frustration in any relationship. Therapy offers a safe space to improve how you connect, listen, and understand each other — helping you build clearer, more compassionate communication.

  • Are you experiencing ongoing conflicts or arguments that never seem to get resolved?
Constant disagreements can leave you feeling stuck, hurt, or disconnected. Therapy provides a supportive space to understand the root causes, develop healthier ways to manage conflict, and rebuild trust and harmony in your relationships.

  • Are trust issues, jealousy, or infidelity impacting your relationship(s)?

These challenges can deeply affect emotional safety and connection. Therapy offers a confidential, non-judgmental space to explore feelings, heal wounds, rebuild trust, and work towards stronger, more secure partnership(s).

  • Do you feel disconnected or emotionally distant from your partner?
When emotional closeness fades, it can leave you feeling lonely or misunderstood. Therapy provides a supportive space to explore these feelings, rebuild intimacy, and deepen your connection with each other.

  • Are you and your partner navigating big life changes like moving, career shifts, or becoming parents?
Major transitions can bring both excitement and stress, sometimes challenging your connection. Therapy provides a supportive space to adjust, communicate openly, and strengthen your partnership(s) through life’s changes.

  • Are past hurts, grief, or trauma impacting your current relationship(s)?
Unresolved pain from earlier experiences can affect how you connect and trust your partner(s) today. Therapy offers a compassionate space to process these wounds, heal, and build healthier, more secure relationships moving forward.

  • Are financial worries or outside pressures causing stress in your relationship(s)?
Money concerns, work stress, and other external challenges can take a toll on intimacy and connection. Therapy offers a safe space to navigate these stressors together, improve communication, and strengthen your partnership(s) through difficult times.

  • Are you exploring new relationship structures or identities, such as polyamory or open relationships?
Navigating non-traditional relationship styles can bring exciting possibilities as well as unique challenges. Therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your feelings, set boundaries, and build authentic connections that honour your values and needs.

  • Are you finding it hard to set boundaries or balance independence with closeness in your relationship?
Finding the right balance between personal space and emotional connection can be challenging. Therapy provides a supportive space to explore your needs, improve communication, and create healthy boundaries that nurture both individuality and intimacy.

  • Are you working to rebuild connection after a separation—or thinking about separation?
Relationships can face difficult crossroads, and whether you’re hoping to reconnect or preparing for change, therapy offers a safe space to explore your feelings, improve communication, and make thoughtful decisions about your future.
